Kayaking, Canoeing & Rafting

Tumble over rapids and forge your way through the pristine streams and rivers of the High Country. For first timers our expert local tour operators run beginners kayaking and rafting lessons.

For family friendly activities the Ovens Rivers provides many tranquil points as it flows from the Alpine reaches around Bright down through Wangaratta and then out to the Murrary. Why not float down the Ovens river from Bright to Porepunkah in an inflatable kayak or head up to Mount Buffalo National Park and explore picturesque Lake Catani in a canoe or stand up paddle board.  Lake Catani on Mount Buffalo, Lake Hume, Eildon and William Hovell also all offer unsurpassed tranquility for a day on the water.

Walking and Hiking

From challenging multi-day hikes in the high country to beautiful nature walks and historic town trails, the region has something for everyone.
